Northland Kia started business as Parson Pontiac back in 1978.  In 1995 the dealership was purchased by the Jack Carter group and the name changed to Northland Pontiac Buick GMC.  During General Motors' restructuring in Canada, a time that saw the loss of the Pontiac brand, Northland was informed they would be losing their General Motors franchise. 

This was quite a blow to the owners as they had enjoyed many years of success as a General Motors dealer and had a large number of loyal customers.  A decision was made to see what other franchise opportunities were available for North West Calgary.  After weighing all their options, Kia rose to the top as the best opportunity.  Kia was on a roll in 2009 and with lots of great product coming, the Carter Group knew Kia would become a major force in the Canadian Automotive Landscape.

Northland Pontiac became Northland Kia in October 2009.  The transition saw many of the long term employees transfer to other dealerships in the Jack Carter family, but a core group of parts, service and accounting staff stayed on.  This has allowed Northland Kia to continue to service General Motors vehicles and keep a large percentage of their loyal customers.

2010 has been a year of transition.  New sales staff have been hired and the existing parts and service staff have learned what a great product Kia produces.  Even the building is in transition.  As part of Northland's re branding, the showroom is being moved to a more visible location facing Shaganappi Trail NW and the entire store is being brought up to Kia's corporate image standards.  

Another change for 2010 is a new Managing Partner joining the dealership.  Robert Wills joined Northland Kia in May 2010.  His previous experience as the General Manager of another local Kia Dealership will help Northland transition from a successful General Motors dealer to a successful Kia dealer.

The new showroom and other renovations will be completed in 2011.  Please check out the work in progress on the renovation portion of our website.  2011 will also see the arrival of several new models in the Kia range of vehicles.  These include the much anticipated mid sized Optima sedan, Sportage Turbo crossover, a new Rio subcompact and Kia's flagship sedan, the Cadenza.
